Caramel Apple Granola

If you have been following along for awhile, you probably have caught some of my other granola recipes. I love adding granola to my vanilla yogurt so I am always thinking of new ingredients. I started with the original recipe (here) and have made seasonal changes like peanut butter granola and most recently, carrot cake granola. For fall, I wanted something that really represented the flavors of the season. Caramel Apple Granola sounded fitting.

Caramel Apple Granola

One of fall’s favorite combinations is caramel and apples. Last year, I made these Caramel Apple Pops. This year, I wanted to use those same flavors but share them in a more realistic recipe. As delicious as Caramel Apple Pops are, they are more practical for special occasions. For me, yogurt is part of my daily routine, so I am always in need of granola. I actually store my granola in a plastic bag in the freezer! No need to thaw the granola before topping your yogurt, either. It’s a great way to keep the granola fresh for longer.
The caramel bites, cinnamon, apple chips and pecans come together to create the most perfect fall flavor. This sweet combination is delicious on vanilla yogurt and really works well for those looking for something sweet after dinner that isn’t too unhealthy. For the apple chips, I used these which are just as good on their own! Real fruit and oven baked, these fruit chips are delicious and healthy.

Caramel Apple Granola
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Mix the honey and oil together in a small bowl. In a large bowl, mix all the dry ingredients together and pour the honey and oil over the dry mixture. Mix until completely incorporated. Spread the mixture onto an oiled, rimmed baking sheet. Cook for 10 minutes, stir and then cook for an additional 10 minutes. Allow to cool before serving.
